Re: meek. About a year ago, while my husband and I were having diner out, I told him that I had a new project i was working on as far as my spiritual life went. He was drinking coffee and politely asked what it was, sip, sip.
I said, "I'm working on becoming meek."
He almost spit out his coffee as he laughed out loud. Margaret, I'm talking--tears were running down his cheeks. Hmmph.
Just the other day, he said, "Hey, how's that meek thing going?" snicker, snicker. Again--hmmph.
Meekness and humility have become lost qualities. The first two letters of meek are "me." Sad that so many, often including myself, fail to strive for meekness. About two years ago I ran into an old family friend who spoke of my father and mentioned that he was so humble for someone who had achieved much in certain areas. I've thought much about this. The lady meant it as great praise, but I doubt that's what I'll be remembered for. That doesn't mean I can't improve. Deb, tell your husband, in all meekness, to stick it...

ReplyDeleteI love this time of year. I spend hours taking pictures and don't get a lot of work done.
