After the
last election, it is clear that America’s general population choose not to elect
Godly leaders to run our great nation. Once upon a time in America, having ungodly affiliations
and perhaps supporting such deeds as abortion would have kept a candidate from the
White House and out of Congress. This is sadly no longer the case.
Proverbs 16:12

abomination for kings (leaders) to commit wickedness,

We know
that God puts people in power, but he gives us (the voters) a free will. If we choose to use our free will to put people
in office who are godless in their words and actions, I believe we will stand before the judgment seat of Christ and give an answer
for those choices.
This is not about political parties, the
left or the right. It is simply about
what’s to become of a nation who has turned her back on God. If the
Bible says it’s wrong, it’s wrong! It
is the responsibility of Christians to place the Bible as the authority in
their individual lives. But we have
allowed the Bible to collect dust on our night stands, and it has spilled over
into our actions and choices.
So where do we go from here?
Christians
are appearing more and more like America’s minority. I pray that if God was willing to spare Sodom
and Gomorrah for the sake of 10, that he will be willing to spare America for the
sake of a remnant.
Now, more
than ever, is the time for Christians to be seeking God, asking for mercy,
seeking Godly wisdom in our own lives. It’s not too early to be praying for Godly
candidates for the next two elections, and for protection and forgiveness for
the America that we are today.
And who is the
America today? At the risk of offending
my real-life friends (and others), when Christians, themselves, overlook sin to
vote for the party, the color, or the gender of a candidate, then we are a deceived
nation looking in all the wrong places for redemption, salvation, and, yes, for
change.

blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal,

God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people
turn away!
Christian
Brothers and Sisters, I implore you…study God’s word, do some fasting, pray God’s
will for our country and our individual lives and the lives of our families. Seek His face and let’s start to see some
real change for America.

ReplyDeleteOne thing that occurred to me as I read a bit of it was the fact that when Israel, et al had evil kings. for the most part, it wasn't because the people put them there. Son followed father, who had followed father. Even so, the people had to suffer thru the judgment that fell upon the nation in response to the evil deeds of the kings.
We can't plead innocence. We can't claim to be victims. WE, the people, voted in those who support evil into office. In fact, many people vote for these leaders because they support evil.
Margaret, I too have prayed that we be spared because of the remnant of believers who show that they put God before wallets and political correctness.
But it looks bad...

Totally agree with what you are saying here Meg. We do need to pray for the next elections; we need to pray that God will rise up leaders who want to lead biblically with direction from God. We are definitely in the minority though, you are right. Such a sad statement, isn't it, that we would turn away from God (figuratively speaking, not you and me, but country as a whole).

Just which diety admonish this as one of the CHIEF commandments to his followers? DeleteYou may want to reread the post. Margaret clearly stated that it wasn't about political parties. It is an understandable assumption on your part, I suppose, considering the propensity of many Democratic to espouse ungodly views.
That tendency is not true of all Democrats, tho. I'm a lifelong Dem and agree with Margaret's post completely. Which just goes to show you--Margaret was right; it's not a party thing.
You may want to take a swipe at that chip on your shoulder. It's hindering your ability to engage in reasonable debate.

It may, indeed, be God's will that political parties shrink. I would be most happy if they did. If we become less party-inclined, and more God-inclined, I believe that America's problems will quickly be solved one by one. The more we put God first, the more of His blessing we will reap.

DeleteI agree with you Margaret - we need to be in prayer now for the next election - if there are still two parties. We are a minority I am afraid. But I will live a minority until I die.

Learn to think for yourself instead of what is dictated in a centuries old book written by those who influenced what went in it. I don't think Jesus would advocate the hatred and violence that is dictated in the Bible. Do you realize that if we followed the Bible literally, you would not be able to have the job you do and would probably be a slave to some chauvinist? We would be no better than Muslims. I think you need to get off your high horse and stop preaching the doom and gloom. Jeez.
ReplyDeleteThat's probably a good prayer for anyone to pray! I think you don't understand exactly what Jesus did on the cross, and you're missing out on such a wonderful thing.
DeleteEvery word of the Bible is true, my friend. It is an inconvenient truth and foolishness to those who haven't accepted Christ as their personal savior. Even Christians sometimes forget that we don't clean ourselves up before coming to Christ...we submit to Him, and we are changed by Him.
Doom and gloom? Nah. There is still the hope that America will turn our faces back to Christ before we all learn exactly what "doom and gloom" is. It does, after all, rain on the just and the unjust...the difference being that as His children we can have His peace no matter how bad things get, and we have the promise of life beyond this old world.
I haven't gotten on my high horse. Yet. Please understand that this little piece of cyberspace is what I paid for, and I have the freedom to "preach" whatever I want.
